Delta APC Non-Indigenes Association Pledges Support for Party… Inaugurates Oshimili South Executives

The newly elected Chairman, Chief Chinedu Obodo, has pledged the association’s support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that members have resolved to work with the party’s leadership in Oshimili South Local Government Area ahead of future elections.

Speaking during the inauguration of the association’s state executive in Oshimili South Local Government Area Party Secretariat in Asaba, Obodo said the association had adopted a common position to align with the directives of the APC leadership in the local government.

According to him, members of the association are committed to supporting all APC candidates, describing the resolve as a “five over five” agenda, covering elective positions from the House of Assembly to the Presidency.

He disclosed that the association had commenced sensitising its members on the need to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them participate in the electoral process.

Obodo said the association comprises five regional blocs: the Igbo community, the Yoruba community, the Arewa community, which includes Hausa and Fulani residents, the Middle Belt comprising indigenes from seven states, and the South-South states which includes non-indigenes residing in Asaba metropolis.

He noted that members had resolved to support the APC, adding that the association would mobilise voters across their respective polling units.

“We are members of the APC and have assured the party that we will work to deliver our polling units,” he said.

In his remarks, the Delta State Deputy Chairman of the APC, Chief Moses Iduh urged members of the association to remain committed to the party and actively participate in grassroots mobilisation in delivering your ward.

He said the party was working towards securing victory for all its candidates in future elections, from the Presidency to the State House of Assembly.

“Our candidates belong to all of us, and we must work together to support them. Go back to your wards and strengthen the party at the grassroots,” he said.

The deputy chairman also commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s performance in office, expressing confidence that the APC would achieve its electoral objectives.

“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori has the interest of Non-Indigene at heart which had led to numerous empowerments and appointment to Non-Indigenes in the State,” Iduh said.

He thereafter formally inaugurated the executives of the Delta State Non-Indigenes Association, expressing hope that the association would contribute to the party’s growth and mobilisation efforts across the state.

Also speaking during the inauguration, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, who witnessed the inuaguration urged members of the association to remain united and committed to supporting the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, saying those who genuinely support the governor should also embrace his political direction by working towards ensuring the APC secures victory in all elective positions, a goal he described as delivering “5 over 5” in future elections.

He commended the non-indigenes in Delta State for their strength and capacity to mobilize support, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the party’s success.

Elumelu also lauded Governor Oborevwori’s prudent financial management, stating that the state had not borrowed any funds since the inception of the administration.

He attributed this to the consistent release of Delta State’s statutory allocations by the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which, according to him, reflects the cordial relationship between the state and the Federal Governments.

He concluded by urging members to rally behind the leadership of Chief Chinedu Obodo, cooperate with him, and dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to advancing the association’s objectives and the party’s electoral success.

The event was attended by APC leaders, stakeholders and members of various non-indigenous communities resident in Delta State.
