The Delta Youth Transformation Movement (DYTM) has been formally inaugurated with a call on young people across the state to take active leadership in driving development and positive change in their communities.
Speaking on behalf of the group at the inauguration, the President, Comrade Isioma Odozi Melekwe KSJI, said, the movement’s initiative as a platform was designed to provide practical empowerment, credible mentorship and collective action aimed at helping young people translate their ideas into measurable results.
The group said Delta youths possess the energy, creativity and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state, but require adequate direction, support and opportunities to fully realise their potential.
The movement also commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, for what it described as his administration’s commitment to youth development and transformation.
It equally acknowledged the contributions of former Delta State Governor and Delta North political leader, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, describing his support for youth development as an encouragement to young people working for progress in the state.
The movement expressed appreciation to its Grand Patron, Chief Mrs. Dame Nkew Okwuofu, for her motherly guidance and support since the establishment of DYTM.
It also thanked its senatorial patrons and other political leaders for their continued support and belief in the movement’s objectives.
Addressing young people at the event, the movement urged them to embrace discipline, unity, service and skills development, stressing that meaningful transformation must begin with individual attitudes and choices.
The group called on youths to work together to build stronger communities and contribute positively to the economic and social development of Delta State.
“Transformation begins with the youth,” the movement said, urging young people across the state to unite and channel their energy towards productive ventures and community development.
The inauguration marked the formal commencement of the movement’s activities aimed at mobilising young people and promoting youth empowerment, mentorship and leadership across Delta State.
