The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says power supply to Abuja and Benin distribution companies (DisCos) will be disrupted due to an annual preventive maintenance scheduled for Tuesday at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta transmission substation.
In a statement by its management, the TCN said the maintenance exercise will affect electricity supply to parts of the franchise areas of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) hereby informs the public that annual preventive maintenance has been scheduled at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 9am to 4pm,” the statement reads.
The exercise will enable TCN’s crew carry out preventive maintenance on the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, associated switchgear and ancillary equipment in the substation.
Consequently, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and environs during the maintenance period.
“Similarly, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo,Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara, Oka and environs.”
The TCN said electricity supply would be restored to the affected areas upon completion of the maintenance exercise.
The company apologised for the inconvenience the planned maintenance would cause affected electricity customers and appreciated their understanding and cooperation.
