Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved a two-day capacity-building workshop for publishers of community newspapers across the state, scheduled to hold on November 17 and 18, 2026.
The approval was announced in a press statement issued on Friday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Newspapers, Comrade Prince Orhomonokpaye.
According to the statement, the workshop will take place at Hotel Benizia, Asaba, commencing at 8:30 a.m. daily.
The workshop, themed “Adequate Reporting of the Achievements of the New MORE Agenda,” is designed to strengthen the professional capacity of community newspaper publishers in tracking, documenting and reporting the policies, programmes and achievements of the Oborevwori administration.
It is also expected to equip participants with the requisite professional skills for accurate, factual and comprehensive reporting of government activities and development initiatives, particularly at the grassroots level.
The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Professor Emmanuel Ufuoohu-Biri, will serve as the lead speaker, alongside other distinguished speakers and resource persons expected to share their knowledge and professional experiences with participants.
The workshop is expected to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development and improved journalistic practice among community newspaper publishers, while enhancing the quality of reportage on governance, public policies and development across Delta State.
