D’ Life Dynasty, in collaboration with the traditional ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom, has unveiled plans for the second edition of the Otorho-Idjerhe Marathon Race 2026, aimed at promoting peace, unity, healthy living, and community development.
Speaking during a press briefing in Jesse Town, the Convener and Initiator of the marathon, Engr. Longlife Eko, announced that the 21.097-kilometre (13.1-mile) professionally measured race will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, across major communities in Idjerhe Kingdom.
According to Engr. Eko, the second edition is expected to surpass the maiden event, which attracted athletes from across Nigeria.
He disclosed that the race will be professionally organised by FENCSO Event Sports Management and Marketing Company, a move aimed at ensuring international standards in registration, security, race timing, medical services, and media coverage.
“We are bringing in a blend of professionalism. With their expertise and proven track record in sports management and marketing, we are confident this edition will meet global standards,” he said.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “Run for Peaceful Community Building and Transformation,” Engr. Eko said the marathon is designed to unite the people of Idjerhe Kingdom while promoting peace, wellness, and sustainable community development.
He appealed to sons and daughters of the kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to support the initiative through sponsorship and active participation, stressing that the marathon belongs to the entire Idjerhe community.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Mr. Peter Usen, said the vision of His Royal Majesty Monday A. Whiskey, Udurhie I, Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, for peace, progress, and unity remains the foundation of the marathon initiative.
According to him, D’ Life Dynasty, under the leadership of Engr. Longlife Eko, has provided the leadership, expertise, and resources needed to transform that vision into reality.
Mr. Usen further announced that the 2026 edition is open to male athletes only. The winner will receive ₦500,000, while the first and second runners-up will earn ₦300,000 and ₦200,000 respectively. Athletes finishing between 4th and 10th positions will receive ₦20,000 each, alongside consolation prizes and finisher’s medals.
Project Consultant, Mr. Event Ekeruvbe, represented by Mr. Clinton Gbaragada, disclosed that the race will commence at 7:00 a.m. from Idjerhe Express Junction near the Army Checkpoint, with the finishing point at D’ Life Dynasty, Idjerhe Town.
He assured participants of adequate medical support throughout the event, noting that every athlete must present a valid Medical Certificate of Fitness issued by a registered and recognised hospital within three months before the race.
Also speaking, Co-Convener Engr. Sanni Usman said the event’s budget would cover the professional delivery of the marathon by FENCSO Event Sports Management and Marketing, while calling on stakeholders to partner in advancing the development of Idjerhe Kingdom.
In her remarks, Co-Convener Mrs. Chinyere Eko said the marathon was inspired by a passion for promoting healthy living, empowering young people through sports, and creating a lasting legacy that will drive progress and development across the kingdom.
