Coaches who recently concluded the Confederation of AFRICAN Football and Nigeria Football Federation CAF D Coaching refresher course have described the program as apt and key to their coaching development.
The Coaches who spoke after the practicals which held at the Steven Keshi International Stadium Asaba said the program had opened their eyes to new methodologies in football coaching stressing that they now have a better knowledge and understanding of the game.
The Coaches averred that the one week refresher course which was under the auspices of the Delta State Football Association would help them perform their duties better and effectively.
They said the resource persons led by the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Mr. Austin Eguavoen as well as his former Super Eagles teammate Edema Fuludu and other CAF/NFF certified instructors had drilled them and believe it was the beginning to their pathway of becoming professional coaches.
The Technical Adviser of the NFF, Mr. Austin Eguavoen as well as Mr. Edema Fuludu and the other instructors lauded the Delta State Government, the State Sports Commission as well as the Delta Football Association for providing the Coaches spread across South-South an opportunity to improve their coaching knowledge saying the program was in line with the recent lifting of the ban by CAF on the training of Coaches by the NFF.
They opined that the refresher Course was needed to reinvent the quality of football in Nigeria.
According to them the quality of a nation’s football is dependent on the knowledge of its coaches.
The Chairman of the Delta State Football Association Chief Godwin Adode thanked the resource persons for availing the coaches an opportunity to become better coaches stressing that the State was among the first in Nigeria to begin the training of its coaches after the lifting of the ban by CAF.
Chief Adode said there was need to improve the coaches knowledge of the game in a bid to rerurn the state to its pride of place in Nigerian football.
He lauded FPG Technologies for their partnership and continued support stressing that the DFA would continue to work with stakeholders towards improving football in the state and beyond.
The week long training programme attracted over 40 Coaches from within and outside Delta State.
