The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has extended its condolences to the Council Secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, following the death of his elder brother, Mr. Emmanuel Sorokwu.
Leading a delegation of the union on a condolence visit to the family’s residence in Asaba, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, assured the bereaved family of the union’s solidarity and support during the period of mourning.
Oyowe described the late Emmanuel Sorokwu as a friend of the union who maintained a cordial relationship with journalists in Delta State, noting that his death was a painful loss not only to the family but also to those who knew him.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“We are here not only as colleagues but as one family. The NUJ shares in your grief. Your brother was a friend of the union, and we will continue to stand by you during this difficult time,” Oyowe said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Comrade Victor Sorokwu expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the union for the visit, describing the gesture as a source of comfort and encouragement in their moment of grief.
He assured the delegation that the union would be duly informed of the burial arrangements once the family concluded its plans.
The visit ended with special prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Emmanuel Sorokwu and for divine comfort and strength for the bereaved family.
