2027: Delta Non Indigenes Association Chairman Unveils Campaign Structures, Pledges Support For Governor Oborevwori, Others

The Chairman of the Delta State Non-Indigenes Association, Sir Bernard Agazuma, has announced a major restructuring of the association’s leadership and unveiled a comprehensive campaign structure as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Agazuma disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Asaba, explaining that the reorganisation was designed to strengthen the association’s structure, improve grassroots mobilisation and ensure effective coordination of political activities across the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said the new leadership arrangement would promote orderliness within the association by assigning responsible individuals to oversee activities in their respective areas while fostering unity among non-indigene communities and enhancing their contributions to Delta State’s political development.

According to him, the Delta State Non-Indigenes Association is a duly registered organisation that cannot be hijacked by any individual or group, stressing that the restructuring is aimed at positioning the association for greater effectiveness and seamless coordination of its programmes in support of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027.

As part of the new campaign structure, Agazuma appointed Alhaji Sulaimam Jauro as Director-General for Delta Central Senatorial District, with Francis Onuora and Ade Jaiyeola serving as Deputy Directors-General. He also named Chief Christian Nwakama as Coordinator of campaign activities in Delta Central, while Barr. Sylvan Okpetu will serve as Deputy Coordinator.

For Delta South Senatorial District, Comrade Festus Ukeje, popularly known as “June 12,” was appointed Director-General, while Dr. Bamidele Daodu and Chief Charles Iwuchukwu will serve as Deputy Directors-General. In addition, Mr. Ezechi John will coordinate campaign activities in the district, assisted by Mr. Jemiu Olowu as Deputy Coordinator.

Agazuma further disclosed that Ubuano Leo would work with the leadership in Ndokwa Nation to strengthen mobilisation in the area.

In Delta North Senatorial District, the Arewa bloc will be led by Alhaji Lawal Imam as Director-General, with Alhaji Auwalu Tukur and Pastor Dada Suberu serving as deputies. The Yoruba bloc will have Mr. Olusegun Oyewunmi as Director-General, supported by Pastor Akinmolade Ayeromara and Ismaila Ahmed as deputies, while the Middle Belt group will be headed by Mr. Jimoh Akaba as Director-General with Mr. Abubakar Wada as Deputy Director-General.

He also announced that Amechi Nwafor would coordinate electoral campaign activities in Aboh, Utabo-Ogbe and Obiaruku, while Chief Chinedu Obodo would oversee campaign activities across the remaining parts of Delta North Senatorial District with Mr. Ismail Babatunde serving as his deputy.

Agazuma stated that, in the South-South bloc of the Non-Indigenes Association, he would continue to serve as Leader and Chief Adviser to all communities.

He urged the local government and ward chairmen earlier appointed by the association, as well as political appointees, women and youth groups across the three senatorial districts, to work closely with the newly constituted leadership to ensure effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

The association’s chairman also announced the appointment of Mr. Ojo Oluwole as Public Relations Officer, Sir Gabriel Akor as Publicity Secretary and Barr. Patrick Ozizioma as Legal Adviser of the Delta State Non-Indigenes Association.

Agazuma reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the association’s leadership across the state and disclosed that he would formally hand over the leadership of the association to a new executive by May 2027 in line with its leadership transition plan.
