Delta Govt, EV Automobiles Launch 2-Day Electric Vehicle Training in Asaba

The Delta State Government, in partnership with EV Automobiles, has commenced a two-day training and empowerment programme on electric vehicles (EVs) in Asaba, aimed at equipping participants with skills for the emerging green transportation economy.

The programme was flagged off in Asaba by the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Oborevwori said the world was gradually transitioning from conventional fuel-powered vehicles to electric vehicles and noted that Delta State was determined not to be left behind.

> “I encourage everyone here to take this training seriously. It’s a two-day training. Ask questions and get the needed knowledge in advancing our society,” the governor said.

The governor said the initiative was in line with his administration’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on meaningful development and creating opportunities for Deltans.

Agofure, who represented the governor, said the state government was committed to developing a modern and affordable transportation system.

He disclosed that the governor had ordered 50 CNG buses, which he said were expected to arrive in Delta State before December.

According to him, the state’s mass transit initiative is aimed at providing affordable transportation for residents while creating employment opportunities for Deltans.

He urged the participants to take advantage of the transformation taking place in the transportation sector and acquire skills that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the emerging industry.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of EV Automobiles and head of the training team, Mr. Oghenegare Precious, thanked the Delta State Government for partnering with the company to empower residents with future-ready skills in electric vehicle technology.

The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Odinigwe Daniel Odigie, described the programme as an impactful initiative capable of moving participants from job seekers to job creators.

> “This is an impactful programme as we are moving from job seekers to job creators. This training is necessary for our own benefit as this will help us become employers of labour,” he said.

The two-day programme is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge in electric vehicle maintenance, operation and entrepreneurship, while exposing them to emerging opportunities within the green economy.

The initiative is expected to contribute to the development of skilled manpower as electric and alternative-energy vehicles gradually gain ground in Nigeria’s transportation sector.
