DTHA Staff, Friends Commend Oborevwori Over 13th-Month Salary Law

By Christopher Odamah

The leadership and members of the DTHA Staff and Friends for Sheriff/Onyeme 2027 have commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, following the passage of an Executive Bill seeking statutory backing for the payment of a 13th-month salary to public servants in the state.

The Delta State House of Assembly passed the Bill on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, following its third reading at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor.

Reacting to the development shortly after plenary, Chairman of the DTHA Staff and Friends for Sheriff/Onyeme 2027 and Secretary of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Austin Uwasike, described the passage as a significant milestone in workers’ welfare.
Uwasike said the initiative demonstrated Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and advancing the objectives of his administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.

He said the proposed statutory framework would provide greater certainty around the annual payment, rather than leaving it solely to administrative discretion.

“As staff and friends of the Delta State House of Assembly, we are direct witnesses to this historic feat. This is not just about extra salary; it is about dignity of labour, certainty for families and motivation for greater productivity. Governor Oborevwori has shown that workers’ welfare is not a slogan but a policy,” he said.

The chairman also commended the leadership of the House of Assembly under Speaker Guwor for its role in the legislative process, noting that the passage of the Bill was an important development for public servants in the state.

Uwasike said the development had further strengthened the group’s resolve to mobilise support for the Oborevwori/Onyeme ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the DTHA Staff and Friends for Sheriff/Onyeme 2027 would continue to take what it described as the achievements of the present administration to communities across the 25 local government areas of Delta State.

He further cited regular payment of salaries and efforts to improve working conditions as issues which, according to the group, had contributed to its support for the administration.

Uwasike congratulated public servants in Delta State on the passage of the Bill and expressed the hope that its implementation would further enhance workers’ welfare and productivity.
