President Tinubu Announces 26 New Appointments to Federal Agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals to leadership positions across 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.

In a state press release by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), “Among the appointments, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has been named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), while Major General Junaid Bindawa has been appointed Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission”.

The REA board comprises Fayose as Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, alongside the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.

The President also appointed eight other members to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, will serve as Secretary of the Commission. Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) were appointed as Commissioners, while Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) will serve as members.

Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

Other appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Engineer Julius Oloro has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, succeeding the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.

President Tinubu also inaugurated the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other board members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

Shuni Muhammad Dahiru has been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.

To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance). Iorja is an economist, legal scholar, academic, and currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
