Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, has secured approval from the National Universities Commission to commence 33 postgraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval followed a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC and was conveyed in a letter dated June 15, 2026, signed by the commission’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.
The newly approved programmes cut across the humanities, social sciences, management sciences, education, natural sciences, environmental sciences, communication and technology.
Among the approved programmes are Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Architecture, Music, Theatre Arts, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Microbiology, Physics and Food Science and Technology.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Andrew Omojola, described the approval as a major milestone in the institution’s growth and academic development.
Omojola said, “The approval is a landmark achievement in the university’s quest to become a leading centre for postgraduate education, research and innovation.”
He noted that the achievement reflected the dedication and commitment of the university’s management, staff and stakeholders who worked to ensure the successful outcome of the NUC resource verification exercise.
“The approval is a testament to the confidence reposed in the university by the National Universities Commission and an affirmation of BOUESTI’s readiness to provide quality postgraduate education that meets global standards,” he stated.
The vice-chancellor also expressed appreciation to the Visitor to the university and Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, the governing council, Senate, staff and other stakeholders for their support towards the institution’s development.
He assured prospective students and members of the public that the university would continue to deliver quality teaching, impactful research and community service through its postgraduate programmes.
According to him, the commencement of the programmes in the 2026/2027 academic session would create opportunities for advanced learning, capacity building and research while contributing to national development.
