Tunji Disu appoints Anietie Iniedu as new force spokesperson

Tunji Disu, inspector-general of police (IGP), has appointed Anietie Iniedu as the new public relations officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Iniedu succeeds Anthony Placid, who was appointed in March 2026, a few days after Disu’s appointment as IGP.

Placid, the outgoing force PRO, announced Iniedu’s appointment in a statement issued on Friday.

BRIEF BIO OF INIEDU

Before his new appointment, Iniedu was the head of the complaint response unit (CRU), force headquarters, Abuja.

He has also served as the PRO of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun state.

Iniedu has held key positions in the force, including operations officer, Maisandari division, Yobe state command; area crime officer, Umuahia area command, Abia state; staff officer, IGP secretariat, force headquarters; second-in-command, 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Kubwa; and officer-in-charge of the force headquarters situation room.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in pure chemistry from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom. He hails from Etinan LGA of Akwa Ibom.
